Jim Olivier’s Home Improvement Is EPA Certified in Lead-Safe Work Practices
For decades homes were built using paint with lead as a key ingredient. Lead-based paint was popular because it lasted longer and was more durable than oil and water-based paint products. However, lead can be extremely harmful to people. Lead is a toxin that can be absorbed through contact with the lead paint on walls, floors, doors, and window sills. The lead particles can float through the air, or they transfer when people touch these surfaces. Anyone who comes in contact with the dust runs the risk of a high concentration of lead.
Lead poisoning can cause numerous health problems, including:
- Blurred vision
- Brain damage
- Fertility problems
- Nervous system damage/joint/muscle pain
- Depression
- Memory loss
- High blood pressure
- Digestive ailments
Effective April 22, 2010, your provider must be EPA certified in lead-safe work practices to properly manage windows, siding, overhangs, and shutters that were installed on homes that were built before 1978. We meet this qualification.
This Law also applies to work done on the home’s interior, such as painting, kitchen/bath remodels.
